The St. Anne's Roll of Honour (1914 - 1918)
The St. Anne's Roll of Honour records nearly eighty men from the parish who served during the First World War. Erected in 1919, it remains one of the church's most important reminders of the impact the war had on families in Aigburth.

First World War roll of honour memorial inside St. Anne’s Church, with carved wooden frame, cross, names of the fallen, brass dedication plaque and poppy wreaths.
Inside St. Anne’s is our First World War memorial, a carved roll of honour remembering men from the parish who served and died during the war. The memorial is recorded by the Imperial War Museums’ War Memorials Register as St. Anne’s Parish Church – WW1, a board / plaque / tablet memorial at St. Anne’s Church, Aigburth.
The memorial stands as a quiet but powerful reminder that the history of St. Anne’s is also the history of the people of Aigburth: families, neighbours and worshippers whose lives were shaped by national conflict and personal loss.

The brass plaque beneath records that the memorial was erected in 1919 by William P. Wethered, City Councillor.
Each year, especially around Remembrance, we honour those named here and give thanks for all who have served, suffered and sacrificed in time of war.
